The October 31st will be the National Day of Urban Trekking, which has reached this year its thirteenth edition.
Siena is the first of many Italian cities that are successfully promoting this sporting activity that combines the healthy benefits of a simple walk to discovering more about city art and histor.
A new way to discover our towns off the beaten track and as close to the genuine simplicity of those who live there, the old shops, the historic alleys and visiting the less famous monuments but the less noteworthy.
Experts are already talking about a new form of Green tourism and using the word “vagabonding” to enhance the spirit of freedom that must have this sporting activity. In fact, despite the many routes available for the Urban Trekking in Siena, differentiated by difficulty and length, tourists can feel free to explore and discover for himself new ways to fully enjoy this experience.
Practising Urban Trekking in Siena is also good for health because you combine physical activity (Siena is in fact about 3 hills so this helps a lot in making a good workout) with the beauty of the landscape within the walls and the countryside around the town.
Moreover the narrow streets with characteristic medieval arches make the journey more interesting and exciting at every step, as well as visiting the small churches and fountains of the contradas which by themselves are real works of art!
This year the Urban trekking in Siena will be organized within a bigger calendar that will last well four days from October 29 to November 1, with events both for adults and children.
Sunday October 30th, in the Campo Square, there will be the initiative for children called ” a piccoli passi”. It is a series of itineraries and guided tours suitable for children, to learn, explore and experience the city of Siena.
A special way to learn and to understand its history and recognize the characters that made it so famous
