How to arrive in Castiglione del lago: arriving by car there are convenient free parking which surround the fortress and many walking routes to reach the top of the village and the lake. Another possibility is to take a train from Siena to the station of C. del lago, located near the center and just 25 minutes away on foot from the beach. The train journey is about 1 hour and 45 minutes and there are runs until the late afternoon.

The fortress and the castle: reaching the historical center of the village you will enjoy the typical architectonic elements of the medieval villages and you will have the possibility to try the traditional Umbrian dishes choosing among all the taverns located in the main streets. we suggest you to visit the central square where you will find the renowned fountain, traditional cellars, shops of souvenirs and local products (like the famous Trasimeno lake beans and seasonal truffles).

Continuing to walk in the main route you will find the suggestive olive hill that will allow you to reach the majestic  St. Domenic church from the XVII century. The last destination that you should visit is palazzo della Corgna where it is also located the entrance of the Lion fortress. Main attraction of the village, the fortress rises on the remains of an Etruscan acropolis, whose walls are still visible, and it also contains the remains of a Byzantine cathedral from the medieval age. The ticket price for the visit in 7 € per person and will give you the opportunity to discover the historical elements of the region and one of the most beautiful view of the lake.

The lake: if you love cycling you cannot absolutely miss the cycling route along the whole lake where you will enjoy unforgettable landscapes and more or less demanding routes. For those who want to relax themselves and enjoy the lake view it is possible to take advantage of the free beaches or to rent sunbeds and beach umbrellas in the resorts along the lake. you can also rent paddle boats and canoes or to take a bath while enjoying  the lake with the family or friends. There are many restaurant with view on the lake where to organize romantic and relaxing dinners.

Lake Trasimeno islands: from the pier in front of the village it is possible to reach two of the three natural islands located in the middle of the lake, Polvese and Major islands. Here you can immerse yourselves in wonderful natural landscapes discovering historical remains and churches, to walk through trekking routes and visit souvenir shops along the beach. There are ferries until late afternoon and it is also possible to carry your bicycles.
