FICO (Food Show dedicated to the Best Food from Italy) in Bologna is the perfect place for a daily trip from Siena, since it is just a couple of hours far from Bologna, and it’s also a perfect solution to find something to fill your winter days. FICO, it’s a large theme park in Bologna. It is dedicated to italian agri-food sector, and it carries on the project started with the EXPO in Milan in 2015. The park is 10 hectares large, 8 of these are occupied by a a building, where shops and restaurants are, while the others are outside, where you can find educational farms. At the entrance you can rent bikes for free, making it easier to move around.
Furthermore it will be possible to reserve a place in order to participate in various events such as: tastings, courses to learn new recipes, and even courses to learn how the products of the sector are processed. So you may follow all the stages of the production, from growing plants and breeding animals, to the part where you prepare food. You may enjoy this experience with your family, since many of the courses are only for children, such as: workshops to learn how to make confetti and pastry, but also courses to learn how to make fresh handmade pasta. Moreover childrens have the opportunity to learn everything about animals and plants, seeing them live in the farms.
FICO offers not only the chance to taste and learn about italian food, but also to rediscover the Mediterranean diet, and to learn a lot about healthy food.

It’s a free entrance park, and you can rent bikes for free too; parking is free only for the first 2h, then you’ll have to pay 1.50 euros per hour. From the website you may book all the courses you wish to attend, so you’ll pay just for them.
The park is open every day from 10.00 am to 11.00 pm (restaurants may have specific resting days, so check on the website to see which one is closed)

Taking the line 35 from bologna central station.
By car: follow the SS674 route from Siena untill you get to the highway for Florence, from here follow the sings for Florence, then take the highway A1 ollowing Bologna direction, take the exit Casalecchio/Tangenziale/Bologna Centro/Aeroporto Bologna/Bologna on the A14, and then take the “Bologna Fiera” exit, then take Viale Europa, turn on Viale Tito Carnacini e Viale Giuseppe Fanin in Via Paolo Canali direction.
