Attending the photo exhibition of the talented Elisa Lovati is an experience I recommend to everyone, photography and non-photography enthusiasts, tourists and non-tourists, in particular, I would recommend it to both Sieneses and foreigners.
The highlights of the most famous horse race in the world-the Palio of Siena-are captured on 48 camera shots.
In the low light settings of Magazzini del Sale, near the Palazzo Comunale di Siena, you will come across evocative photographs and close-ups which convey participants’ and spectatores’ emotions at this extraordinary event.
The individuals in the photos seem almost coming to life; thus, allowing onlookers to interact with them as well as experiencing that very moment captured in time and space and perfectly recreated by Elisa Lovati’s shots.
The details of the photographs make it possible for the observer to experience a more intimate connection between themselves and the close-ups, which are loaded with tension, strength, and passion.
Although I am not Sienese, I was perfectly able to perceive how important is the Palio to the Sieneses. This unique and typical event of the city represents its culture and beauty.
This inaugural exhibition took place on the 2th September in which took part the mayor Bruno Valentini, the Dean of the Magistrato of the Contradas Nicoletta Fabio, the journalist and director of “Il Carroccio” Senio Sensi, and Elisa Lovati herself.
You can admire Elisa Lovati’s photographs until the 30th September 2016 and I would strongly suggest you to visit the hallways of this exhibition and let yourself get carried away with the Palio atmosphere through such evocative photos.
Borgo Grondaie, only two kilometers away from the city center, will be the main place where to enjoy this season of relaxation and culture.
